MajorityWorld is working with Innovation Energie Developpement (IED) to prepare the Missionary Electrification Development Plan for the Philippines. This World Bank/GEF supported activity under the Philippines Rural Power Project, will determine the 5 year plan for development the off-grid and island electricty supplies in the country. In particular, MajorityWorld's role is in reviewing the role of private sector in missionry electrification as a way of promoting investment in aging generation, and also for the expansion of the electricity services to remote and otherwise unviable areas. The Government has set a tight schedule with the first mission in October 2011 and the study due for completion in December 15.
